Zacharias - Lexis Nemea 2022

At the heart of Nemea PDO, Zacharias Winery is a family-run estate with deep roots, producing wine since 1962 and counted among the region’s oldest producers. Led by winemaker Elias Zacharias since 1974, it balances tradition with a quietly modern approach, crafting wines that express place, grape, and time with clarity.

Lexis Nemea is the flagship wine of Zacharias Winery, a powerful expression of Agiorgitiko from the single vineyard “Tsintari,” set on the historic Acropolis of Ancient Phlious. With a prized south-facing aspect, very low yields, and meticulous hand harvesting, the wine captures both concentration and finesse. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (30% new), it is full-bodied and structured, with velvety tannins and a polished profile. Aromas and flavours of vanilla, red plum, cherry, blackberry, and sour cherry jam are layered with spice, creating a rich yet balanced expression.

Produced in limited quantities, Lexis Nemea has earned consistent international acclaim, including multiple Gold Medals at Mundus Vini and Berliner Wein Trophy, as well as standout recognition as Best Red of the Show at Mundus Vini 2020 and Best of the Show at the Orlando WSWA Wine Competition 2023 - confirming its place among the leading expressions of Nemea.
